The questions contractors actually ask, answered plainly.
If something here is not clear, ask us rather than guessing — we would rather lose a signup than win one on a misunderstanding.
No. Kilo runs in your browser on any phone, tablet, laptop or desktop. Nothing to download, nothing to keep updated, no per-device setup, and a new hire is working the moment you add them.
Yes. We lead with roofing because that is where storm damage, insurance claims and matching-rule supplements live, and that is where our edge is sharpest. If your shop also does gutters, siding, window wraps, decks, soffit and fascia, chimneys or skylights, those go on the same client card with the same six agents, one estimate and one invoice.
If your subs do roof-adjacent exterior work, yes. We are not pitching Kilo as a general-contractor PM tool for commercial new-build, and we would rather say so than sell you the wrong thing.
For scope documentation and supplement building, yes, and it is included at every paid tier rather than charged per seat. Kilo produces a line-item scope an adjuster reads without training, with the photo evidence for each line in the document. If a specific carrier requirement means you need to keep your existing tool as well, you can — Kilo does not force you to pick.
Category, item, quantity, unit price, subtotal — the line-item structure the industry runs on — with embedded photos per item, overhead and profit at the bottom where it applies, and the matching-rule citation when a product is out of production.
No, and that is deliberate. Photos stay in your CompanyCam. Contracts stay in your Adobe Sign, DocuSign or Dropbox Sign account. Invoices go to your QuickBooks. Kilo keeps pointers. Cancel tomorrow and you still have everything.
You do. Export is available on every tier including the free one. Taking your data out is never a paid feature — that is what keeps a free tier honest rather than a trap.
Storm work is seasonal and the pricing should not punish that. Talk to us about a pause rather than cancelling and re-importing in spring.
Only when you let it. Every outbound message to a homeowner is behind a flag that ships off, and anything at the insurer or money tier is hard-gated behind a human approval in the app — logged, with a name on it.
No. Consent is checked at the point of send, a STOP reply blocks absolutely, and the check is on the server rather than in the interface.
No. In Kentucky, KRS 367.628 says a contractor may not negotiate a claim on a homeowner’s behalf, and the same idea applies in most states. Kilo assembles documentation — in the homeowner’s name, for their adjuster. It never negotiates.
Kilo documents the product, the date it went out of production, and what your state’s matching rule says about a repair that cannot match, and puts it in the homeowner’s file ready for their adjuster.
Bring your own if you use them — you pay them, not us, and the results come back into the card. Nothing is resold through Kilo.
Kilo Base holds up to 25 clients with your records and CSV export. Automations, agents, outbound comms, e-sign and invoicing are what the paid tiers unlock.
Secrets live in a managed vault, access is role-scoped and server-enforced rather than hidden in the interface, and the things that touch money or go to an insurer are gated behind an approval you can look up afterwards.
Not yet, and we would rather not promise a date. Kilo runs in any browser on any device today, which is what matters for a rep standing in a driveway.
Nerdy Consultants, and the first customer is a roofing company. The software exists because the paperwork did not fit the work.
